Festival Arte Sano launches summer edition
Festival Arte Sano, one of the coast’s most popular summer festivals celebrates its 10th edition over the last weekend of July on the San Pedro sea front. This year the healing and performing arts festival looks back to the 1960s and 1970s with its poster design, evoking an era of free festivals, flower power, peace and love and psychedelia.
Arte Sano is the largest alternative free festival on the coast and has established itself as a contemporary showcase of natural health, artistic expression, movement, dance and personal development. Sprinkled with a liberal mix of live music, activities, workshops, classes, loads of healthy food stalls and a busy children’s area, the festival offers something for everyone over the weekend. The full programme of the weekend’s activities will be posted on the festival’s web site www.festivalartesano.com and this year will include highlights such as reggae Sunday, a full day of live acts and DJs for a laid back summer vibe. More world music live on stage will come from the Rodriguez Celtic band, Etno Babu and many more.
There will also be a wide range of talks and practical workshops on subjects including natural health, community living, massage techniques and energy balancing. The Yoga space is always a popular place for people wanting to try different styles and this year there will be many local yoga schools taking part. Taking part in all of the activities on offer are free of charge so visitors can save their money for the wonderful, colourful market place with its mix of ethnic and handmade crafts, therapists, natural and organic products, natural cosmetics and fantastic healthy food.
The children’s area is an important part of the event, and once again is run by the Casa Verde, a Montessori project based in Coin. They will offer many activities, often using recycled materials, showing children the value of environmental principles.
Last year over 6,000 people enjoyed a weekend on San Pedro’s Paseo Maritimo, and once again Arte Sano will be celebrating alternative living in all its colourful diversity and the organisers look forward to welcoming everyone again this year.
