Guests admire art work at the new Red Penguin Art Gallery in the Guarnieri Building San Pedro

Visitors of the latest opening of the Red Penguin Art Gallery in San Pedro de Alcántara which took place on Friday, July 24, were visibly impressed by the variety and exceptional quality of the paintings, sculptures and design objects shown there. Special interest attracted the ‘Artist of the Month’, the photographer Dirk Karsten. In his suggestive urban, industrial and natural landscapes, the international award-winning Dutch crosses the border between reality and dream and pulls the viewer into an almost magical, grandiose silence.

In addition to the exhibits of this exceptional photographer, the gallery shows small, unusual sculptures made by the Chinese Xie Aige and Gong Don and the Italian Raberama; fascinating portraits made out of thousands of single words and letters by Sunny Wei Ping; amazing mix media collages as the portraits of Marifé Muñoz and the equally colorful cityscapes by Robert Klibansky as well as striking decorative rose collages by Manuel Muher, just to name a few.

With these artists, the Red Penguin Art Gallery will participate in the first edition of Art Marbella. This ambitious project aims to make Marbella the new focal point of international contemporary art. From 30 July to 3 August, 40 of the most prestigious galleries from around the world will have the possibility to present their best artists to international art patrons and collectors and also to the interested public in general.

The Red Penguin Art Gallery is located on the first floor of the Guarnieri building in San Pedro de Alcántara and opens Monday to Friday 10am – 2pm and 4pm – 8pm and Saturday from 10am to 2pm.
