Our Space where the work environment is always great
On the final day of my hotdesking week, it was boiling outside, with all the media warning of a heatwave. I came into Our Space very hot and sweaty, but was quickly cooled down and ready for work by a chilled glass of water from the water machine and so grateful for the lovely air conditioning!
It made me think that another big advantage of hotdesking is that the environment is always great for you – the temperature and lighting is right; the place is kept clean and someone is on hand to help if you’re having a problem with printing or scanning.
Having a bright, stylish office with air conditioning, drinks and staff to help you with IT would have once been the preserve of only very big, successful businesses. Yet with coworking and hotdesking this has been opened up to all SMEs. I think this is amazing for entrepreneurs and hope that many Marbella and Costa del Sol businesses can come and give this a try. Coming to work here each day has really boosted my mood and made me feel productive and professional.
The biggest benefit that I have found over the week is the ability to invite clients to meet me here, rather than have to go to them, or meet them in a coffee shop. I have had four meetings over the week, and probably saved myself four hours in travel time, and a lot of money in parking and coffees. Not only that, but you can tell that clients are very impressed when they walk in and it gives a sense that you are a professional and serious company. Being met and welcomed by a receptionist and waiting with a drink is ideal, plus having an office for clients to visit builds your credibility – as we all know, trust can sign a deal!
I have really enjoyed my hotdesking experience, despite the journey from Manilva. I now have a well set up office, separate from my home, but I remember well when we worked from around the kitchen table and cafes; I wish something like this had existed then.
