After all the preparation and planning Marbella’s International Art Festival is finally here, the delegation from Georgia have arrived and the inauguration takes place tonight.

There will be a strong Georgian influence at this year’s festival thanks to the hard work of Natalie Stuart Fox and the collaboration with Batumi Art Festival. There are seven artists and one gallery from the Black Sea countries and performers from Georgia, plus a Delegation from the Town Hall and business associations from Batumi, the cultural capital of the Black Sea Coast.

Arte Marbella’s President Caroline Bowley commented; “This year, our festival is welcoming Georgian artists and honoured by the presence of Mayor and Vice Mayor of Batumi, cultural capital of the Black Sea Coast. This continues the strong relationship between Marbella and Batumi which has been built through art and offers many opportunities for cross promotion and a new source of tourism and revenue for the town.

Last year saw the first InterArt Batumi Art Festival which Arte Marbella collaborated in. An official delegation from Marbella, organised by the Georgian Chamber of Commerce in Andalucia were invited by Batumi to attend, and enjoyed the wonderful hospitality of the Georgian people. This year InterArt Batumi Art Festival will be held from 1-3 September followed by an Art & Wine Tour of Georgia”

Special guest artists from Georgia have also been invited to display their art at the Red Penguin Art Gallery Marbella. This follows the highly successful Masterclass which the gallery’s Director of Art Consultancy Loni Olfers delivered last year and lectures planned for later this year. Featured artists from Georgia are: Natia Surguladze, Lasha Makharadze and Badri Kokaia and they will be present during the opening of The Beautiful & The Best Exhibition on Friday 21st June from 18.30-21.00 to personally introduce their art.

Arte Marbella is open to the public 21st-23rd June 2013 16.30-23.30 and is free to attend. More information www.artemarbella.com
