Specsavers Ópticas Javea sponsor Javea Green Bowls Club
Specsavers Ópticas in Javea has been helping to encourage people to get active during the winter months as part of its support of the local bowls and social club Javea Green Bowls Club.
The opticians have been the principal sponsors of the Healthy Lifestyle Winter Triples tournament, which ran from November 2019 to February 2020. As well as weekly bowls competitions, this tournament encourages people to adopt a healthy lifestyle over the winter months. All the sponsors are committed to offering services which promote a healthy lifestyle and Specsavers is proud to be supporting this important cause.
Store director for Specsavers Ópticas in Javea and Calpe, Mike Stone, says: ‘We’re delighted to support this initiative which encourages healthy lifestyle among residents on the Costa Blanca. We have been involved with the club for four years now and many of our customers are members, so sponsoring them is a good way for us to thank them for their support and ensure there are positive and healthy activities such as these for the whole community.’
This tournament is an open competition for any club in the area and runs every Saturday. This year’s competition was won by the team Last In. Team members Dave Gardiner, Jill Nobbs, Jill Glastonbury, Paul Truncheon, Niel Roake, Eve Bell and Roli Bell were crowned champions at a prize giving ceremony in February.
Javea Green Bowls Club’s sponsorship Officer, Brenda Burgess, comments: ‘We’d like to say a big thank you to Mike and Louise from Specsavers Ópticas in Javea. Their sponsorship is important to us, as the money allows us to present monetary prizes for first, second and third places, provide a meal at the presentation for all competitors, and pay the green fees throughout the competition.’
Javea Green Bowls is a friendly and welcoming club of around 150 members who enjoying bowling throughout the year. They compete in over 10 competitions a year, including The Iberian Open in September, which attracts competitors from all over the Costa Blanca.
