November is White Truffle Month in Marbella

White Truffle Month Il TartufoRare, impossible to cultivate and renowned for its unique taste and aroma, White Truffles are the ultimate luxury food. With a short season from October to the end of December, this jewel of Italian gastronomy is one of the world’s most highly prized ingredients.

2013 is reported to be the best white truffle harvest for more than a decade, with an abundance of high quality truffles which are exceptionally fragrant and delicious. To celebrate the quality of this year’s harvest and allow Marbella residents to sample the delights of this stunning product, local restaurant Il Tartufo (The Truffle) have created a special tasting menu where the white truffle is the star. Throughout November the five course menu of simple, yet delicious Italian cuisine including homemade tagliolini pasta, saffron risotto and sirloin steak will be accompanied by the finest white truffle flown from Italy to order.

This is a real celebration of the truffle and a luxurious event, but there will also be daily specials featuring white truffle as starters and main courses, so guests can sample the delicacy for the first time before taking the plunge. Reservations for the White Truffle Tasting Menu must be made at least four days ahead, to allow time to fly the truffles direct from Italy and a deposit is required to secure the booking. Email info@iltartufo-ristorante.com to make a reservation.

Georgina Recommends – Pad Thai Wok Marbella

PadThaiWok1PadThaiWok2Pad Thai Wok is a great Thai restaurant close to the Marbella sports port which serves up really tasty Thai food with lovely service. If you like it spicy you won’t be disappointed as all the dishes can be made mild or mind blowingly hot depending on your tastes and given the normal Thai prices in Marbella it’s great value for money. It’s becoming a firm favourite of ours.

The location– Avda. Duque de Ahumada con C/. Faro, Edf El Faro 2, Local 2 Marbella.

This restaurant is on the corner of the road going down towards the Puerto Deportivo, opposite the ice cream shop El Piave and near Telepizza. It’s normally on our way back home after a few drinks at the port and is always a great place for a spontaneous bite to eat.

The food– Pad Thai Wok has authentic Thai food which is packed full of flavour. I would particularly recommend the soups which really set the taste buds alight. Tom Ka Kai with chicken and coconut milk is my favourite for the balance of spice and creamy taste and bags of flavour. Follow that with a curry, Pad Thai or a meat dish such as their Siam Chicken. Everything is very good, but the Pad Thai with beef or chicken and XL noodles is hard to beat and we normally order a couple!

El Banco Restaurant Opens in Aloha Pueblo

El Banco release imageOn the 11th of July a new restaurant is opening in Aloha Pueblo with a fun opening event, giving a new lease of life to the urbanization’s old bank and preparing delicious International Fusion cuisine in a relaxed environment.

The restaurant is being launched by Gustavo Kiguelmam and Laura de Luca, the husband and wife team behind the legendary La Red restaurant on Marbella’s beachfront. The opening will be from 7-9pm and everyone is invited, just RSVP to georgina@shawmarketingservices.com to secure your place.

Chef Giacomo Muzio is bringing his culinary skills to this quirky locale, which has given the old bank a fresh look whilst keeping a few original features such as the safes, cleverly repurposed into wine racks. The cosy restaurant has comfortable sofas, as well as a dining area and spacious terrace. The food is defined as “International, fusion cuisine, prepared fresh and made with love” and the menu includes homemade pasta and puddings, ceviche, healthy salads and thanks to the Argentinean owners – top quality meat.

Looking forward to Tuk Tuk visit

Just booked to go along to Tuk Tuk in Aloha Gardens and they have sent me through the menu which is making my mouth water. The problem is going to be choosing what to have I think, as everything looks delicious. I think a good Thai Chef...
