Do you have a great business idea?
There are many people with great ideas spinning round in their heads, sure that they have the potential to be the next big thing, but not sure where to start. We love encouraging innovation and new business and helping entrepreneurs on the Costa del Sol to apply the marketing mindset into their new projects, so we are going to be writing weekly articles over the next month, looking at the process of taking an idea from concept to reality.
When an idea pops into your head and you have a Eureka moment, it’s an exciting thing. At that moment you are clear that your project is just what the world needs and you’re prepared to dedicate yourself to making it a reality, because it’s worth it. At that point you don’t know how exactly to structure it, or put it down on paper, but one thing is clear – you need funding! Every day thousands of people have new ideas, some revolutionary, others less so, but all inspire so much passion in their inventors that they can’t wait to get started. What is more difficult is to convince others (predominantly investors) and get them to see your idea and its potential with the same clarity that you do.
In order to make your idea attractive and tangible for investors and also get a clear picture for yourself you need to start with a business plan which includes market research, budgets and of course marketing strategy.
This is a good time to look for some professional help, from other entrepreneurs who have done this before, professional organizations and companies such as a marketing agency. They can guide you through this process, give you an outside perspective and ensure that the research and plan is done correctly to give you the best possible chance of success.
Many people think that marketing is only a tool to sell and create promotional strategies, but marketing thinking should be central in the development of the idea right from the beginning and should be involved in product development and price setting, as well as the promotion. Marketing professionals have the tools to take your idea and transform it into something tangible, by finding the right words and images to bring your concept to life. Please contact us if you would like to arrange a brainstorming session to take the first step into fleshing out any ideas, or if you’d like help with preparing a plan that will sell your concept to investors.
In our next blog post we will be looking at what a business plan and market research is all about. If you have a great idea and this article has got your entrepreneurial juices flowing, please feel free to ask us any questions by commenting on this post and we’d be happy to answer them.
