On Saturday 24th May, the family run country house hotel Hacienda La Herriza was honored with the presence of the Mayor of Gaucin Pedro Godino Martín and the Mayor of Estepona José María García Urbano and his family to celebrate its 10th anniversary. During a special garden party and barbeque, award winning local bodega Cezar Viñedos presented their organic wines and celebrated their 10th anniversary of commercial production, delighting guests with their fine wines. Guests also enjoyed live music from traditional Spanish musicians, sherry servers and ham cutters for a celebration of all things Andalusian.
During the event Mayor of Gaucin Pedro Godino Martín said a few words to the assembled guests commenting “Welcome to everyone and a special welcome to the Mayor of Estepona and his family. There are many reasons to be here today to celebrate the anniversary of La Herriza and particularly for me to see the completion of a dream of a local Gaucin villager and the former Mayor to create this beautiful complex. Where have you seen a more beautiful place than this? I invite everyone to come and discover Gaucin and La Herriza and relax and disconnect from their busy lives and share our festivals and traditions.”
Estepona’s Mayor José María García Urbano agreed that is was a beautiful setting and that he looked forward to discussions on how Estepona and Gaucin could work together with the hotel to widen the tourist offering for those visiting Estepona and the coastal areas.
Director of the Hotel David Rodriguez commented “Our family is so proud to have made it through the financial downturn to reach our 10th anniversary and we are delighted the Mayors have joined us to celebrate. We look forward to many more successful years to come.”

Specsavers Opticas in Benidorm is organizing a food collection campaign on behalf of the Cruz Roja (Spanish Red Cross) from 2nd to 7th of June to collect much needed supplies for local families requiring help. There will be a collection point in front of the store in Calle de Gambó 2 from 10.00-20.00 every day during this week. Cruz Roja are particularly asking for tuna, milk, oil, tinned tomatoes and children’s food such as juices, cereals and cakes to be brought to the collection point.
The food collected will be delivered to the Cruz Roja Benidorm’s food bank and donated to needy families at risk of social exclusion. They help between 80-100 people per week and have seen the demand for the food donations more than double over the past few years due to the crisis.
