Marketing Focus – Setting Marketing Objectives
Setting objectives will give the form a purpose for the campaign a clear purpose and achieve goals.
Objectives should always be; Specific, Measurable, Achievable, and Realistic and Time bound (SMART). Creating “smart” objectives will allow you to evaluate the campaign by measuring how successful the marketing activity has been.
It would be pointless spending a lot of time and money on a campaign if, at the end, you were unable to tell if it had been successful. Objectives should always be set within a specific timescale as this will allow you to measure whether the campaign has met these objectives in the time desired.
Here are some tips for setting objectives:
- Media coverage should always form part of the objectives, think about the media coverage that you are trying to achieve
- Is the point of the campaign to achieve an increase in sales? If so it is important to think about by how much and over what length of time
- Think about web traffic and social media “likes”. Is this something which you are looking to increase, if so then by how much and how long is the timeframe?
Once you have your objectives set in place it is then easy to see what needs to be done and how the campaign will be evaluated.
