Marbella Beach Clubs Opening Parties 2013

puro beach opening 2013 2It may seem hard to believe as the rain comes down but the Marbella Beach Clubs are getting ready for action once again. The first one to brave the inclement weather is Puro Beach. They have their Spring Opening Party tonight and then on 28th March their opening day with music from DJ Jan Blomqvist from 11am to 9pm. Let’s hope the sun comes out for them!

In April and May the rest of the Beach Clubs follow suit, with many having a soft launch, followed by the bigger party later in the summer. Information is still a bit sketchy, but below we’ve put together the opening parties for the leading Marbella Beach Clubs, please let us know if there are any we’ve missed.

I can’t wait for the Summer season to get underway, let’s hope that the opening of Puro Beach kick starts the weather and we get back the sun!

Georgina recommends ….. Tanguito, Marbella Old Town

This little Argentinian restaurant is a great place tucked away in Marbella Old Town. It’s a good choice for steak and also if you’re looking for somewhere to both eat and have a few drinks as there’s a fun bar underneath as well. Here’s our review:

The location – As with most places in Marbella Old Town this can be a bit difficult to find. The best way to get your bearings is to come in to the Old Town by the road opposite where the horses and carts are and turn right at La Pesquera, heading towards Orange Square and take the first left up a little side street. It’s towards the end of this road on the left hand side. Click here to see it on Google maps.

The food – The food is great for carnivores with excellent quality steaks and delicious mixed kebabs. They also have a good selection of other dishes, but for me it’s a place to go to get your meat fix. The wine list is good too.

Georgina recommends …. Divina Tapa, Marbella

This little tapas place is our new favourite place to go and have never let us down for great service, interesting and delicious food, good wine, a lovely wine bar vibe and good prices. I’d definitely recommend it for an evening with friends.

The location–  Just behind the big Zara on Ricardo Soriano, one street down towards the sea c/ Ramón Gomez de la Serna 4, Marbella. If you’re looking at Zara go to the right, down the road towards the sea and take your first left by a bar called lekune. Divina Tapa is the third place you come to.

Georgina recommends ….. Tonolito tapas bar

Tonolito means little barrel

If you want a fun place to start a night out in Marbella which is very authentic Spanish, Tonolito is an excellent choice. It’s a little place in the back streets off Orange Square which offers a free tapas with every drink you order. They have a choice of 50 to choose from and it’s fun to try out a good selection to accompany your drinks.

Flamenco Marbella

I love Flamenco! For me the drama, noise and fun of it really typifies the Spanish and it’s great to be able to watch it live. There are many tourist places to watch flamenco which will offer you an amazing show, but I prefer the more authentic spit and sawdust places where the Spanish go.

A few weeks ago, we finally got around to visiting Tablao Flamenco Ana Maria which is tucked away in Marbella Old Town in Plaza Santa Cristo and it was fantastic. It’s held in the owner’s front room by the looks of it, with lots of little round tables with polka dot table cloths, a small bar and a wooden floor for the dancers. The night we went there were three female dancers, a fantastic old guy who sang and danced, a singer and three musicians one who also sang. They sit along the back of the dance space and essentially “jam” with the dancers getting up in turn and the musicians playing according to how they dance. It really is a great spectacle and some of the performances were incredible!
